Solar PV and solar thermal suppliers Solar Twin Ltd were honoured to address UK’s Heating and Ventilation Magazine’s Combating Legionella Seminar in September 2010 on the subject of renewable energy and Legionella safety. Is the usual twin coil solar cylinder hot water store compliant with HSE legionella prevention safety guidance L8?
This solar safety video complements an earlier Legionella in solar thermal safety video from 2009 which was presented to the Microgeneration Certification Scheme. It resulted in the wider acceptance of safer solar water heating installations, despite opposition from some top players in the solar heating industry who seek to limit debate on the matter and who continue to promote L8 guidance noncompliance as “solar best practice”, even though some solar heating installations have been described by independent consultants as as “highly likely to be creating a risk” and as “a serious flaw in design”.
This new Legionella safety in solar and heat pumps video above speaks for itself. Key players in solar industry tell me that they are is now referring to legionella only indirectly as the L-word or just as bacteria as a way of trying to keep it out of google’s attention! Legionella = l********a = l-word = bacteria and so on.
