Solar industry news 31 August 2011:
Today, Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority added three more high profle solar company names to its growing list of informally resolved cases.
The latest players to resolve matters informally with the ASA are
- Bosch Thermotechnology Ltd, trading as Worcester Bosch Group
- The Energy Initiative Ltd
- Lead Generator (Kent) Limited, trading as Local Solar Panel Quotes
It is vaguely interesting to note that Mr Neil Schofield of Worcester Bosch is the Vice Chairman of the Solar Trade Association, an organisation of which our company are now active members, following years of unreasonable boycott.
Also vaguely interesting is the ASA website entry from six weeks ago. This refers directly to the Solar Trade Association whose Chairman, Howard Johns, made repeated false claims for mains pumped solar water heating, claims which we referred to the ASA only after the renewables industry Reglator, the REAL Code, an organisation upon which at least one STA member apparently sat, cravenly declared itself unable to act to stop false technical claims.
Is it vaguely time for some of today’s leaders of the Solar Trade Association to step aside? Perhaps they can be incentivised with OBE’s for doing so…
You heard it first at Solartwin: campaigning for greater transparency in the solar industry.
