Stuart Lovatt, Solar 4 U Ltd, Solar Water Heating Company Director is guilty of fraud.
At Crown Court on 10 June 2009, two counts were admitted: dishonesty making false representation to make gain and of obtaining services dishonestly. Stuart Lovatt of Chester, Cheshire CH2 3HX was granted a two year conditional discharge.
Barry Johnston, Managing Director of Solar Twin Ltd said today: “my confidence in the criminal justice system has been bosted by the fact that this highly plausible fraudster who describes himself on the web as a “social entrepreneur” in the solar sector has been twice found guilty of fraud.”
However I am sad to acknowledge that in the past Mr Lovatt has been through our hands as an employee, and that one of the charges to which he pleaded guilty are that he stole from us. I am grateful for the committment of my colleagues for working very closely with Cheshire police and the Crown Prosecution Service in order to secure his conviction. This outcome will be of benefit to the solar industry as a whole.
According to Companies House, on 11 June 2009 in a phone call, which was witnessed by colleagues, Stuart Lovatt was confirmed as the Operations Director of Solar 4 U by Adrian Clayton, who himself is listed as a Director and shareholder of Micro-generation Systems Ltd, which in turn owns Solar 4 U Ltd.
Stuart Lovatt is indeed listed as one of four directors of a dormant company registered in Essex called Solar 4 U Ltd (registered in Colchester), whole parent company is called Micro Generation Systems Ltd (registered in Hertford) also with offices in Colchester. This is an active company with the same directors, apart from Mr Lovatt who is not a Director.
Stuart Lovatt, besides being a self-confessed fraudster, is a prolific writer on several solar web domains such as heatmyhome.co.uk and solar4u related sites in UK.
News update: On 17 August 2009 I had a conversation with with Andy Brown, Director of Micro-generation Systems Ltd. He told me that Stuart Lovatt is no longer a member of his staff and is no longer connected in any way whatever with either Micro-generation Systems Ltd (formerly known as Solar 4 U Ltd) or Solar 4 U Ltd (formerly known as (Micro-generation Systems Ltd).
The companies swapped names with each other in 2007.
